Non-profit Vs For-Profit Debate: Spring Into Action’s Take

In the previous post, we mentioned the event we attended about Non-Profits vs. For-Profits. I wanted to post about our stance on this polemic, as a hybrid social enterprise that seeks social impact and profit at the same time.

At Spring Into Action, we are AGNOSTIC to legal structure. Our priority is that our businesses sell a product or service that is valued in the market above its production costs - allowing us to make a profit. This can be done with the slew of for-profit structures and as a 501 (c)(3) tax exempt corporation. Please note, we plan to reinvest all profits into other social businesses.

The decision about our legal structure will be made based on what is ideal for any given business model, rather than dogma.

This debate is complex and we will be posting more on the pros and cons of each structure in the coming months.
